This quote comes from a famous New Yorker cartoon (page 61 of July 5, 1993 issue (Vol.69 (LXIX) no. 20)) that was both widely and wildly popular in the 90-ties. The cartoon in question, by Peter Steiner, can be seen here.  And while this may have indeed been so in the 90-ties, things have changed so much since then that the time has come to correct this somewhat naive, idyllic image of personal privacy.
