Those Poor Dutch - Congrats to Spain!

It was their 3rd appearance in the World Cup final game... Unfortunately, just as the previous two it was not a success.

I am talking about the Dutch national team that lost to the Spanish national European champs on July 11th. Congrats to the Spaniards, though. Theirs was certainly the strongest team of the World Cup and they certainly deserve the title of World Champions.

Spain has had a long tradition of very good football clubs (Real Madrid, Barcelona FC) and they have done very well as a national team winning the European Championship twice, but it was their first World Cup final match and they won it in great style.

Let's hope the Dutch will win theirs one day too. They have been very close to it, but it was always their opponents that turned out to be the winner. First it was Germans in 1974, then Argentines in 1978, and now Spaniards.

Another champ is that octopus guy. I am not sure if you have heard about it. Paul the octopus predicted the winners of several matches usually involving the German national team (but also the winner of the last match of the World cup that did not involve Germans) in a very uncanny manner. This guy is so famous now that he has even his own Wikipedia page.

It was my first World Cup that I watched entirely on the Internet. When my TV set refused to work last year, I threw it out and ever since I get my shows, news and stuff entirely off the net. You can do it, quite easily too. I am on a mission to declutter my life of junk as much as possible. So far, so good...
