And then I did it a few more times in a relatively quick succession: about five, perhaps a bit more, times within 15 minutes or so. The effect of this was short of a miracle. No, I am taking it back: it was absolutely miraculous! And the article did not mention that something like that was to be expected. Some other effect, of purely physiological nature, could be observed, according to the article, but not something like that. Not what happened to me. Not such a profound psychological and physical transformation. What I stumbled upon is undoubtedly the laziest way to Nirvana, the most natural of ways to a totally natural, substance free high. I was stunned. You would have been too. My mind was now completely clear and feeling very refreshed. As if someone flushed it with a heavy stream of crispy cold water getting rid of the scum of all negative feelings that had been accumulating on it for years. There was no trace of them on the horizon, as if they never even existed. I was feeling great, happy, content with my life as it was. I did that little exercise a few more times and feeling that my energy was surging even more, I decided to move elsewhere. I could not sit in that place any longer. There was a whole world waiting for me out there. I was brimming with energy of levels unknown to me for years, suffused with extraordinary self-confidence, eager to meet any challenge thrown my way. I felt as if I were just born again. Complete as never before. I was in a state of bliss. Literally. I left the bookstore wondering how much longer this was going to last. Little did I know that it was only the beginning.
