HOME Eclectic	"It takes a wise man..." If you are to believe one of those old, wise, probably Jewish or so I think, sayings, "every fool can paint a picture, but it takes a wise man to sell it." This can easily be paraphrased as: "every fool can write a book, but it takes a wise man to sell it." And it applies to writing articles as well. Yes, you can write a lot and think that you are a great writer, but do people really care about it? Well, thanks to EzineArticles.com you can now find it out. All it takes to do this is provide a link or two from your author's resource box, located at the end of the article proper, to your site or blog and if they follow these links, that's a sure indication they want more from you. Right?  Inside your account at EzineArticles.com you can see how many times your articles have been viewed and how often your links have been followed. You can have this information for each article as well. Dividing the number of visits by the number of views gives you the click through ratio (CTR).  Knowing how well you are selling your knowledge or yourself via articles boils down then to knowing the CTR as well as knowing what values of good, respectable CTRs are.  From some popular Internet marketing forum that I frequent, whose members use articles to promote their websites or products they sell, I found out that the really good CTRs are around 8%. I saw this number mentioned by two people. And those indeed had been good numbers until I bested them. As you can see from this screenshot, a really good CTR for articles posted to EzineArticles.com is now 8.5%.  (This screenshot was taken shortly after another 6 new articles of mine had been posted and so this performance can only be attributed to the first 19 of my articles. After this last submission, the CTR has been fluctuating between 8.2% and 8.5%. Also, those round numbers are just accidental. I simply got lucky taking the screenshot at the right time.) "Not bad, ha?" as Elaine once said to Jerry in a famous Seinfeld episode, admitting that she had faked all orgasms with him all the time. But I am not faking anything here: all my past CTR performance has been dutifully documented via screenshots like that.  The CTR of 8.5% means that 1 out of every 12 people who read my articles decided to follow a link to my site. My best single article attracted 16 visits having being viewed 93 times which means that 1 out of every 6 people reading it (or 17.2% of them to be more precise) wanted to see my site. Now, you probably would like to know what I attribute such good numbers to.
