"Zeitgeist" This is an interesting movie that some will find controversial. It is worth checking out, though. As a libertarian, I believe that some of its
ideas are right on the money, in particular where it concerns the Federal
Reserve. For more about this issue, see another article in this
section as well as the article about a
movie dedicated solely to the Federal Reserve.
I also recommend The
Mystery of Banking I am, however, not convinced that all, or even most, of the movie's astronomical ideas concerning Christianity and the religions that preceded it make a lot of sense. Some of them seem quite a bit naive, if not farfetched. In a few places, they are simply incorrect. For instance, Sirius, the star that prominently features in the story, is always aligned with the stars of the Orion Belt, and not just on some December day. And that's only one example. What happened on 9/11 is speculative too, although the public has the right to know what really transpired then, so talking openly about it even though this may sometimes border on conspiracy theories is fine with me. And since most likely we will never know the total truth, trying to get even glimpses of it is so much more important. Personally, I do not think that the people, whose public influence seems to be growing, suspecting the Bush administration of masterminding the demolition of the WTC are right if only because, to agree with Bill Maher, Bush and his company are not competent enough to do anything like that. Remember, we are talking here about the people who totally miscalculated the war in Iraq and mismanaged the Katrina disaster. It seems to be a pretty tall order for these fellows to perpetrate something as elaborate as the demolition of the landmark feature of the financial capital of the world and get away with it without leaving clear traces all over the place. Moreover, as every respectable scientist knows, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. I see no such evidence here. And until I see it, I will treat this kind of claims simply as an exercise in somewhat imaginative speculation. You can see the movie right here.
